The increase to the flow rate was startling.well, actually the amount of build up in the tubing was startling and once I saw that the reduced flow rate made sense. Recently I ran a super-long cleaning brush as far down the tubes as possible. After I rise the media this is still a low flow rate (in regular mode only a few of the green flow indicator lights would NOT be illuminated). Something else I noticed.I clean the filter regularly. Either it will work or there will be a "Eheim Pro3e in great condition" in a "For Sale" thread. I'll post a follow-up once I get the heater. The idea is that if this doesn't work, I'll ditch the filter and purchase an Eheim 2080. Hopefully I'll have it within a few weeks and I'm going to try to hook it up and test filter performance. I am trying to get another Hydor 300 ETH on the cheap. In theory, at this point inline equiptment can be utilized. The other sensor features have been disabled.
NOTE: In manual mode the flow can still be adjusted, which is nice. The only light illuminated will be the bottom orange light.
Here is how to assure the filter gets in maual mode.ġ) Reset to factory settings: Hold the +, -, and S simulataneously until the filter resets (it will actually turn off), release the buttons and let the filter do it's thing until all the funky light sequences stop and it's running normal again.Ģ) Next, hold down the S button for like 5 seconds, all the LED indicator lights will turn off except the bottom orange light will blink and remain illuminated. I always thought my filter was in manual mode, however, it clearly was NOT. The person I talked with said I could put the filter in manual mode and there shouldn't be an issue. I called the Eheim Customer Support line to see if there was a work around. I searched the internet for mods/hacks I could try (I'm not opposed to opening up the thing and cutting wires), but no luck.
I have not had full success yet, but I can tell you what I have learned. I am nearly at the point of purchaing a Pro3 2080, but I'd prefer to save the $400 and work with the filter I currently have. I know the Eheim Pro3e controversy had been accepeted by many, but after having a 2076 for nearly 2 years now, I decided to do some research with the goal of finally getting this to run an inline Hydor ETH heater. The great thing about this filter is that you seriously only have to open it up for maint like 3 times a yr!įirst, this is bothering the mathematician in me: 900 gph is not "more than double" 500gph. I filled mine with 5 liters of EhFiMech a layer of the green "easter grass" looking stuff, cant remember the name, and then topped it off with I believe 13 or so liters of a EhFiSubstratPro then topped that off with filter floss that I buy in bulk at walmart. They are identical filters with on exception, the 2262 has a high flow hobby pump, which more than doubles the circulation to a screaming 900 gph.Įither way you are going to open your wallet wide when you fill it. You might consider the 2262 if you can find it. 4.8 gallons of media capacity and an honest 500gph circulation. I almost went with double 2260's but that would have been, even by my over filtration standards, serious over kill. Ya its gonna be serious business! :wha: :ninjaOn my 180 I have a 2260 (as I stated) on one end and a 2217 on the other.
